This tip calculator works out the gratuity on any bill, shows your total, and splits it evenly across your group. No more awkward mental maths at the table.
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage, then add it to the bill. For a $50 bill at 18%, the tip is 50 × 0.18 = $9, giving a total of $59. To split between people, divide the total by the number of diners.
| Service | Typical tip (US) |
|---|---|
| Restaurant, good service | 18–20% |
| Restaurant, standard | 15% |
| Café / takeaway counter | 0–10% |
| Food delivery | 10–15% |
Tipping norms vary widely by country — in many parts of Europe and Asia a service charge is included and tipping is modest or optional.
Either is acceptable; many people tip on the pre-tax amount. The difference is usually small.
In the US, 15–20% is standard, with 18–20% common for good service. Norms are very different elsewhere.
Calculate the full total including tip, then divide by the number of people for an even split, or assign each person their own items plus a proportional share of the tip.
